Goal

Give people a private place to talk things through, without ever posing as clinical care

The challenge.

People reach for support at exactly the hours when nobody is available, and most mental health tools meet them with an intake form, a mood score, or a questionnaire before a single word gets said. The harder constraint sat underneath that: an app in this category has to be genuinely supportive while stating clearly that it is not a licensed therapist, that it does not diagnose or give medical advice, and that it is not a substitute for professional care or emergency services. Add a person typing their worst day into a phone, and privacy stops being a settings screen. We had to design warmth, stated limits, and confidentiality at the same time, inside a single text field.

THE SOLUTION

Warm, never clinical.

We built the product around one rule: it can be warm without ever posing as care. The AI listens, reflects back, and asks one question at a time instead of handing out advice. Users name it and choose its voice and avatar, so the thing they talk to becomes theirs.

  • It starts by typing No forms, no questionnaires, no scores. The welcome screen offers four one-tap openers for anyone who does not know where to begin.
  • Memory that carries over It remembers what matters across conversations, so nobody starts over, and it can check in between conversations.
  • Private by design The whole app locks behind a passcode or Face ID. Text only, so nothing is listened to, watched, or scanned. No tracking, no third-party data selling, and full account deletion happens inside the app.
  • Limits stated up front Not a licensed therapist, doctor, or counselor, and no diagnosis, treatment, or medical advice. The App Store listing says so plainly and points anyone in crisis to a crisis line, 988 in the US and Canada.

Key features.

Conversation about a week of anxiety and not being able to switch off at night, with the AI reflecting back and asking one gentle question at a time
One question at a time
Conversation opening on everything feeling like too much, answered with one slow breath and an offer to find the first thread together
Grounding first

The result.

AI Therapy: Talk It Through reached the App Store on 30 July 2026 and runs at version 1.0.1 on iPhone and iPad. It is free, carries an optional auto-renewable subscription, and is rated 12+. What we are proudest of is the restraint: a conversation that keeps someone company at 3am, a lock over the whole app, and a boundary stated plainly rather than dressed up as a promise. That is the line we hold on every health app we build, support first, clinical claims never.
